Neighborhood Security Policy
Neighborhood Security Policy
Approved by Town Council 6/15/17,
replacing Notification of Sheriff Policy
When confronted with circumstances that are threatening or annoying, assess the threat level to yourself, others, property, and community well-being. Neighborhood disputes and concerns can often be settled by contacting the Coordinator and the Conflict Resolution Team before the situation escalates.
Craft an appropriate response that suits the circumstances by choosing from the following:
(This is not a suggested order, and, furthermore, you may choose to do more than one.)
• Contact your immediate neighbors.
• Contact the Neighborhood Security listed on the back of the MLC Directory.
• Contact the Coordinator.
• Contact the Conflict Resolution Team listed on the back of the MLC Directory.
• Contact local Law Enforcement. If you do contact law enforcement, please also contact the coordinator. (Remember: going to a court to obtain a trespass or restraining order automatically triggers a response from law enforcement.)
• Ask the Coordinator to post a warning by email to the MLC Community.
For fast contact during emergencies; it would be wise to have already entered phone/email contact information for the Coordinator, your immediate neighbors, the Conflict Resolution Team, and the Neighborhood Security into your phone address book.
