BB Guns and Similar Devices Policy

BB guns, slingshots, bows and arrows, air rifles, and the like:

1. must be operated only under close, direct adult supervision for children under 16 years of age.
2. may not be operated or discharged on common land.

Enforcement:

1. Any adult resident of the Co-op has the responsibility to notify the Coordinator if a BB gun, slingshot, bow and arrow, air rifle, or the like is used in violation of this policy.  If the offense is by a person under 16 and the offense causes or presents serious risk of harm, the Co-oper may confiscate the weapon, as well as notify parents and the Coordinator.  Confiscated items must be returned to notified parents immediately.
2.  Any second or repeat violation of the above policy must be brought before town council for referral to the Conflict Resolution Team, or if such referral is unsuccessful, for a decision.

Town Council may make an exception allowing use of such devices on common land if it sanctions a particular activity (such as archery) or location for use for a special event.
